Khakee is an Indian Hindi-language Indian romantic thriller film directed by Pavan Malhotra and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. It stars Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Rajkummar Rao and Supriya Pathak. Written by A. M. Athavan and Pooja Chopra, the film is produced under the banners "Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment" and "Team 2 Entertainment". It released on 27 April 2018. The film collected ₹ 8.20 crore in its first weekend, ₹ 7.60 crore in second weekend and collected ₹ 11.13 crore in its first week at the box office. Khakee is a modern day thriller of two college students of opposite personalities who fall in love with each other unknowingly of their backgrounds. Both start living together unknowingly of what had transpired till now, they fall in love with each other unknowingly of their backgrounds and so on... Then comes the big question... Khakee was initially scheduled for a release on 13 January 2018, coinciding with Republic Day and was postponed to later in the year. It was again postponed to 27 April 2018. The film released in 119 screens across India and in 63 screens overseas. On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 80% based on 6 reviews, with an average rating of 6/10. Neil Soans of "Mid-Day" gave it 3 stars out 5 and said that, "Khakee might be a little too long for its own good and could certainly use some trimming in terms of length, but there's no denying that this is a hard-hitting take on the genre. It's a shame that the movie loses any kind of intensity midway through, but it remains a gripping watch till then." Sona Singh of "The Times of India" gave the film 2.5 stars out 5 and said, "Khakee is an entertaining ride despite its flaws". The soundtrack for the film was composed by Pritam and released on 24 April 2018 by T-Series. The soundtrack was well received from critics. The top track from the album "Suraj" was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Choreography.Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma first met at a party at Kareena Kapoor's house in 2010. After meeting for many years, they eventually got engaged in 2016 and were married on 28 June 2016.Sajid Nadiadwala, who produced the film along with Praveen Nangare for his production house Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Pooja Chopra's Team 2 Entertainment, said: "Khakee is a hard-hitting take on the growing trend of inter-caste marriages in India.
